Reflection 7- Digital Storytelling / PowerPoint

Dear Journal,
Patience, Perseverance and Practice mixed with dedication has brought this far. This week is another well informative week for me . This week was all about making a movie on windows movie maker and creating a powerpoint presentation.

Task

• Create a movie to match with podcast and podcast script
• Create a Powerpint Presentation as a whole class

What I Learn

First I had to download windows movie maker and install it to my computer. I then had to import pictures, add a video clip, add music, sound, narration, video transition, effects, titles and credits. 

This is my completed video.

The whole class had to come together and create a powerpoint presentation.  The power .Our topic for the power point presentation was Vertebrates.We all as teachers knew that vertebrates are animals with backbones and a spinal cord. Vertebrates could be classified into five class  :  mammals,reptiles,amphibians.fish and birds.

This is the completed powerpoint presentation.

Wordle,  Prezi and Mindmyster were three other programmes that we had to download but we were placed in groups to complete each programme. 

I was apart of the Prezi group. Prezi is a presentation tool that can be used as an alternative to traditional slide making programs such as PowerPoint. Instead of slides, Prezi makes use of one large canvas that allows you to pan and zoom to various parts of the canvas and emphasize the ideas presented there.

    Social Studies Topic on Independence using the Prezi Presentation .

Challenges

In the powerpoint presentation the class faced a problem when inserting the video and putting in pictures from online. The videos and pictures had to be saved from Google images to the device in order  to insert the images into the power point. 

The group had problem at first with the downloading of prezi from the website to the device. We had to explore and watch a video on Youtube  in order to operate the programme. After completing all the things mentioned above it was smooth sailing ahead.

Conclusion

It was a great experience using Powerpoint and Prezi. Powerpiont and Prezi are going  to very useful in the classroom in order to do presentations and discussions about different topics in all subject areas. Another week complete and another week closer to Digital Native Land.
